The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), has officially flagged off the Olympic Solidarity Beach Volleyball Coaching Course in Abuja.
The President of NOC, Habu Gumel said the program will empower the participants with the essential knowledge.
Gumel who was represented by Dolapo Olaniyan, the Administrative and Project Personnel of the NOC, said the Olympic Solidarity will also create pathway for excellence.

She said, “This programme represents a significant investment in our coaches. It will empower them with essential technical knowledge and the skills required to take Beach Volleyball to greater heights.
“Through Olympic Solidarity, we are creating pathways for excellence and sustainability within our sports system.”
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engr. Musa Nimrod, expressed gratitude to the NOC and the International Olympic Committee for their continuous support in advancing the technical capacity of Nigerian coaches.
He further emphasized the federation’s resolve to ensure coaches apply the knowledge gained from the course to develop young talents at all levels.
Nimrod said, “This collaboration with the NOC and the IOC through Olympic Solidarity is vital. Nigeria has consistently maintained a top-three ranking in Africa in women’s Beach Volleyball for the past six years, and this programme will help us build on that legacy. We are already looking toward Los Angeles 2028 with confidence.”
“We cannot afford for coaches to attend training and go back to sleep. This is the time to work, to develop, mentor, and produce the next generation of Beach Volleyball champions.” Nimrod added.
Meanwhile, the Technical Representative of NVBF, Surv. Timothy Samuel, reiterated the federation’s long-term vision for Beach Volleyball development in Nigeria.
He said, “This programme will inject fresh energy into our coaching and refereeing structures. From January to March next year, the commissions will roll out their developmental plans, from schools to local leagues, to identify and nurture young talents.”

The five-day course, powered by Olympic Solidarity, commenced today, November 4, 2025, and runs until November 9, 2025.
It features 25 participants drawn from across the country, including coaches, referees, and technical officials eager to expand their expertise in Beach Volleyball.
The course is being conducted by FIVB international instructor Javier Bosma, a respected global figure and former Olympian.
