Anticipation is high as Matchday 12 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) unfolds across various centres of the country this weekend, with teams eager to improve their standings and regain momentum.
In Benin City, struggling Bendel Insurance will seek to revive their campaign when they host high-flying Warri Wolves at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. The visitors will aim to consolidate on their recent victory over Bayelsa United.
Over in Ilorin, Remo Stars will be on a redemption mission following their elimination from the CAF Champions League at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns. They face a confident Kwara United side, who are brimming with self-belief after securing a goalless draw away to Rangers International in Enugu.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers United, the only Nigerian club still active on the continental scene, will hope to return to winning ways when they host league leaders Nasarawa United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. George Finidi’s men, winless in their last three league outings, will be determined to halt the Solid Miners’ title charge.
Action continues on Sunday as Barau FC chase their third victory of the campaign against Wikki Tourists at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
In Yenagoa, under-pressure Bayelsa United will square up against Plateau United at the Samson Siasia Stadium. With both the technical crew and players handed a two-match ultimatum, having already lost one, Bayelsa United will be desperate to redeem their image.
Elsewhere, El-Kanemi Warriors will look to bounce back from their Matchday 10 defeat to Katsina United.
In Aba, two former league champions will battle in what promises to be an exciting encounter. Stanley Eguma’s side, reportedly given a two-match ultimatum, will aim to heap more misery on Kano Pillars, who currently languishing at the bottom of the table.
Meanwhile, in Lagos, Ikorodu City will welcome Kun Khalifa FC to the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Ali Candy’s men will be hoping to build on their impressive draw against Rivers United in a midweek rescheduled fixture.
