Edo Queens and Nigeria Falconets versatile star, Esther Inyang, has hailed her teammates after Nigeria’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Rwanda in Ibadan on Saturday, sealing progress in the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
Speaking with Ijoba Sports News after the game, Inyang praised the Falconets’ collective effort and resilience:
“We gave our best in today’s game and showcased what we are capable of. This is the best way for us to boost our World Cup ticket race. I also commend my teammates for their efforts.”

The Falconets set the tone early with Precious Oscar netting the opener, before Tumininu Fatimah doubled the lead in the 20th minute with a stunning strike straight from a free kick. The first half ended 2-0.
In the second half, Janet Akekeromowei extended the lead with a thunderous left-footed effort from outside the box in the 60th minute. Deep into stoppage time, Taiwo Afolabi wrapped up the scoring to seal a commanding 4-0 win.
Reward and Next Step
After the final whistle, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, rewarded the Falconets with $15,000 for their performance, and also gifted $10,000 to the visiting Rwanda team.
With this result, the Falconets have officially booked their place in the next round of the World Cup qualifiers, continuing their pursuit of a place at the 2026 tournament.
