Kwara United returned to winning ways at the ongoing ValueJet Preseason Tournament, defeating Ikorodu City 3-2 in their second game of the campaign.
The Harmony Boys took the lead in the 27th minute when Saheed Olaniyi converted from the spot after Wasiu Jimoh was brought down in the box. Alao Mohammed doubled the advantage with a brilliant solo effort, showing composure and precision in front of goal.
In the 77th minute, Babatunde Bright made it 3–0, netting his second goal in as many games to put Kwara United firmly in control.
Ikorodu City fought back, scoring twice — including a penalty — to set up a tense finale. However, Kwara United goalkeeper Ayeleso Suraj was the hero between the sticks, saving a penalty in the first half and stopping another effort before the referee ordered a retake.
Head coach Tunde Sanni praised his players’ effort but noted areas for improvement:
“We will continue to work hard and address all loopholes ahead of the NPFL season,” he said.
Kwara United will next face Abia Warriors as they continue their preseason preparations.
