The Ekiti State volleyball teams have completed the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball League, with the female team securing an impressive third-place finish in Division 1, while the male team finished last in Division 2. Both teams are now preparing for the second phase of the league to complete the season and pursue their respective goals.
The female team, building on their remarkable debut last year where they also clinched third place and earned promotion to Division 1, remains in strong contention for further success. Meanwhile, the male team, competing in the national league for the first time in nearly two decades, faced tough competition but is determined to improve in the next phase.
Head Coach Soji Farotimi emphasized the need for thorough preparation to ensure the female team’s push for promotion in the second phase. “We’ve shown great potential, but we need to double our efforts to finish strong and secure promotion,” Farotimi stated. He also expressed optimism about the male team’s growth, noting their debut as a valuable learning experience.
The Ekiti State Sports Board commended the players and coaching staff for their dedication and resilience. “We are proud of the effort displayed by both teams. The female team’s consistency is commendable, and the male team’s participation marks a new chapter for Ekiti volleyball,” a board member remarked.
As the teams regroup and prepare for the second phase, Ekiti fans are rallying behind their players, hopeful for a strong finish to the season. The teams are back home to prepare for second phase aiming to elevate their performance and make the state proud in the concluding stage of the 2025 National Volleyball League.
