Dependable Adeyemi FC defender, Habeeb Taiwo, has opened up about the difficult road to recovery following a knee injury he sustained in December 2023 during a match against Winners FC the IFC LEAGUE qualifiers.
In an exclusive chat with Ijoba Sports News, Habeeb described the period as one of the toughest phases of his football journey, expressing deep appreciation to Adeyemi FC management for their unwavering support.

“Injury is the major setback for every athlete, not just footballers,” he said. “It felt like a joke at first when I got injured at Olubadan Stadium. I was devastated because football is a part of me. But thanks to the incredible support from the management of my team, my return to the game is becoming more visible and promising. I feel blessed to be part of this club — Adeyemi FC is truly a family. Their love and constant support during this period have been overwhelming.”
He reserved special praise for the club president, Mr. Abiodun Adeyemi a.k.a. Babe Abe, calling him “a blessing to this generation” for his continuous encouragement before and after the injury.
In a promising update, Habeeb has gradually resumed personal training. He has been working out in the gym, engaging in recovery drills, and slowly rebuilding his match fitness. A recent video of his gym session, shared on his social media platforms, gave fans a sigh of relief and renewed hope for his comeback.

Despite being sidelined, Habeeb has maintained an active presence within the team — attending matches, supporting from the sidelines, and even travelling with the squad to Iseyin for the NLO group stage, where Adeyemi FC impressed.
“I can’t wait to be back on the pitch and give my all again. Every time I watch the team play, I feel proud. My teammates have been brilliant, and the coaching crew has been exceptional.”
Fans still fondly remember Habeeb’s standout performance against Remo Stars FC in a friendly fixture back in November 2023, a game that solidified his growing reputation as one of the team’s defensive pillars.
As his recovery progresses, supporters and teammates alike eagerly await his return to full action, knowing that a stronger, more determined Habeeb Taiwo is on the horizon.
