The Chairman House Committee on Sports at the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiola Awoyeye has reiterated the promise of the Osun State Government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke to reward athletes who made the state proud at the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
He made this known while addressing journalists at the closing ceremony of the fiesta in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
Hon. Awoyeye who was elated by the performance of Osun athletes as they coast home 13 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 9 Bronze Medals said that the feat was made possible by the giants strides of Governor Ademola Adeleke and his Deputy, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Sports, Prince Kola Adewusi for sports development.
” Our athletes performed well at this National Sports Festival because Governor Ademola Adeleke has put so many mechanisms in motion for sports growth in the state.”
” Some of the mechanisms put in place are the construction of state of art stadium in Osogbo which is ongoing, good welfare packages for athletes as well as monetary reward for medals won at previous National sporting events, among others.”
” We have a wonderful sports commissioner in our Deputy Governor who is always accessible to sports men and women.”
” Now that our athletes have given us an unprecedented achievement by finishing 9th on the Medals table, the Medalists would get fat rewards from the state government and they would get it on time.”
” We would surely not rest on our oars, we would start preparations for next National Sports Festival holding next year in Enugu State.” Said Hon. Awoyeye.
