Wroclaw, Poland — Chelsea capped off a strong European campaign in style, defeating Real Betis 4-1 in the UEFA Europa Conference League final on Wednesday night to lift their first trophy under new head coach Enzo Maresca — and make European history in the process.
The win sees the London club become the first team in history to win all four major UEFA club competitions:
🏆🏆 Cup Winners’ Cup
🏆🏆 Champions League
🏆🏆 Europa League
🏆 Conference League
Despite going 1-0 down early in the final, the Blues staged a devastating second-half comeback, led by the brilliant Cole Palmer, who provided two assists, and Moises Caicedo, who added the fourth goal to seal the rout.
Palmer and Caicedo were two standout performers in a Chelsea side that dominated the competition from start to finish, losing only once since the league phase began.
Christopher Nkunku, who scored seven goals in 11 appearances, finished as Chelsea’s top scorer in the tournament — a bright spot in a season where his Premier League contributions were limited by injuries.
Chelsea’s road to glory was emphatic:
Topped the league phase with a perfect 6 wins from 6
Beat FC Copenhagen in the Round of 16 (home and away)
Defeated Legia Warsaw in the quarters, despite a second-leg defeat that led captain Reece James to criticise the team for showing “disrespect” to the competition
Brushed aside Djurgarden 5-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals
The final in Wroclaw saw Betis, making their first-ever appearance in a major European final, briefly dream after an early opener. But Chelsea responded with clinical efficiency, scoring four unanswered goals to secure the club’s first continental silverware since 2021, and also book a return to the Champions League via a fourth-place Premier League finish.
The result marks a statement of intent from Enzo Maresca, who has delivered silverware in his debut season — and restored Chelsea’s aura on the European stage.
